About Us

A major sea change is taking place all across the publishing industry. Digital composition has resulted in technological advances that have leveled the playing field across the board. Small digital printers can provide high quality books efficiently and economically. E-books can be delivered to the reader instantaneously and economically.

The game has changed from design and production to sales and marketing. In this environment the small niche publisher is well-positioned to compete with big name houses, and in many cases has a competitive advantage because it can move quickly and nimbly.

Front Porch Press, LLC exemplifies this new era of publishing. Front Porch Press authors can participate much more fully in the process and thus exercise more control over the final product.  Further, we recognize the important role that independently-owned bookstores will play in the coming years. Books of regional interest rely primarily on the distribution and support of local book stores, and we work very closely with these dedicated people who keep an important tradition alive in our culture.

Front Porch Press: We are looking for good tales, well told.  Bring yours to us.

What We Do

Front Porch Press was founded on the concept that there are many talented writers and poets whose work gets lost in the traditional publishing clutter. We hold the belief that an interesting, well-written story will always have an eager audience and a viable market. So, first, and foremost, we are looking for good tales, well told.

Next, we know firsthand the challenges and pitfalls that new authors face in today’s publishing world, and have thought long and hard about how to overcome those challenges in a manner that protects and fairly compensates both author and publisher. Consequently, we offer a publishing strategy that does just that.

Front Porch offers its authors three distinct publishing options that apply to works of fiction and non-fiction in e-book and printed formats:

TRADITIONAL BOOK PUBLISHING AGREEMENT: Front Porch Press LLC (FPP) and the author agree to enter into an agreement that requires the author to provide a fully edited word manuscript. FPP will bear all of the costs of publication, (Example: $25.000) and agree to produce a ready-to-deliver book in any quantity needed. FFP and the author will jointly market the book. Gross sales will be shared 80% to FFP and 20% to the author. The author retains all rights to the work.

CO-OPERATIVE BOOK PUBLISHING AGREEMENT: Front Porch Press LLC (FPP) and the author agree to enter into an agreement that requires the author to provide a fully edited word manuscript. FPP will bear all of the costs of publication (Example: $25.000) and agree to produce a ready-to-deliver book in any quantity needed. FFP and the author will jointly market the book. The author has the option, but not the obligation, to co-invest in the costs of production in any amount, and will increase his/her royalty from 20%, up to 70%, depending on the co-investment. The author retains all rights to the work.
